John Matteson is an American professor of English and legal writing at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NYC. He won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Biography for his book, 'Eden's Outcasts'. Matteson has an A.B. from Princeton, a J.D. from Harvard, and a Ph.D. from Columbia. He's authored several notable books including 'The Lives of Margaret Fuller' and 'A Worse Place Than Hell'. He has contributed articles to prominent publications and is involved in various literary societies. Matteson married Michelle Rollo in 1991 and they have one daughter.
