John Thompson McEldowney was a New Zealand rugby union player born on October 26, 1947. He played in the prop position and represented Taranaki at a provincial level. McEldowney was also a member of the New Zealand national rugby team, the All Blacks, competing in 1976 and 1977. Throughout his career, he played a total of 10 matches with the All Blacks, which included two international games. McEldowney contributed significantly to New Zealand rugby before his passing on June 17, 2012.
