John McK. Camp II, born on February 8, 1946, in New York, is an American classical archaeologist. He studied at Harvard University, earning a BA in 1968, then attended Princeton University for his M.A. in 1972 and Ph.D. in 1977. Since 1966, Camp has participated in excavations at the Agora in Athens, becoming assistant director in 1973 and director in 1994. He served as Mellon Professor at the American School of Classical Studies from 1985 to 1996 and has been a professor at Randolph-Macon College in Virginia since 1996.
