John Thomas 'JT' McNamara was an Irish amateur steeplechase jockey born on April 8, 1975. Over his career, he achieved more than 600 racecourse victories. However, his career came to a tragic halt when he suffered a serious back injury and a broken neck during a fall at the 2013 Cheltenham Festival, resulting in paralysis and the use of a wheelchair for the remainder of his life. He passed away on July 26, 2016.
