John Fleetwood McWethy was an American journalist born on February 28, 1947, in Aurora, Illinois. He graduated from DePauw University and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He began his career at U.S. News & World Report before joining ABC News as the National Security Correspondent. McWethy received multiple prestigious awards, including five Emmys. He witnessed the September 11 attacks at The Pentagon. Tragically, he died in a skiing accident on February 6, 2008. He is survived by his wife and two adult children.
