John Monroe is a former Canadian skater born on September 25, 1960, who currently works as a coach. He won medals at the Canadian Short Track Speed Skating Championships and was the 1990 North American Short Track Champion. Monroe has extensive coaching experience, having worked with the Canadian Inline Speed Skating Team during the 1999 Pan-American Games and with the American national team, coaching notable skater Shani Davis. He later coached the Netherlands national short track team, aiming for success at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
