John Moriarty was an Irish writer and philosopher born on February 2, 1938, in Moyvane, County Kerry. He was educated in Listowel and at University College Dublin. After teaching English literature at the University of Manitoba, he moved to England in 1974 and worked as a gardener in a Carmelite monastery. Later, he resided at the foot of Mangerton Mountain in County Kerry until his death on June 1, 2007. His work inspired the film 'Dreamtime, Revisited,' directed by Dónal Ó Céilleachair and Julius Ziz, released in 2012.
