John Peder Egenæs, born in 1960, is the Secretary General of the Norwegian branch of the human rights organization Amnesty International, a position he has held since April 2007. He studied at Oslo Cathedral School and completed his teacher education at Oslo University College. Egenæs worked as a substitute teacher before joining the State Center for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and has been with Amnesty since 1990, including various international assignments.
