John Herring Petersen, born on April 18, 1989, in Fort Worth, Texas, is an American golfer. He attended Louisiana State University, where he played college golf for the LSU Tigers. In 2011, he became the third LSU Tiger to win the NCAA Championship individually, following Fred Haas Jr. in 1937 and Earl Stewart in 1941. For this achievement, he was awarded the Arnold Palmer Award presented by Callaway.
