John Robert Porter is a Canadian art historian, museologist, and professor from Quebec, born on April 28, 1949, in Lévis, Quebec. He served as the director general of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ) from 1993 to 2008. After this tenure, he took on the role of commissioner for the expansion of the MNBAQ and became the chair of the board of directors of the MNBAQ Foundation. He concluded his responsibilities following the inauguration of the Pierre Lassonde pavilion in 2016.
