John R. Martin was an Orthodox bishop in the United States, born on January 5, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He became the second bishop of the Ruthenian Orthodox Diocese of America under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Educated in various seminaries, he was ordained in 1955 and became a bishop in 1966. He served as bishop for 18 years, overseeing administrative updates and establishing a diocesan monastery. Martin passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 1984, following a celebration, and his funeral took place on October 4, 1984.
