John James Rigas (1924–2021) was an American businessman and one of the founders of Adelphia Communications Corporation, a prominent cable TV company in the U.S. He was also the majority owner of the Buffalo Sabres NHL franchise. In 2005, Rigas was convicted on multiple charges of fraud, receiving a 15-year prison sentence, although he served nine years before being released due to health issues.
