John Gavin Scott was an English organist and choirmaster known for his significant contributions to choral music. He won the International Organ Competition in Manchester in 1978. From 1990 to 2004, he served as the director of music at St. Paul's Cathedral in London, and until his sudden death in August 2015, he directed choirs at St. Thomas Church in New York City and performed as a concert organist. He passed away on August 12, 2015, due to heart failure.
