John Stanistreet was an Australian politician born on April 7, 1913, in Bendigo. He worked as the principal accountant for his father's firm after studying at Bendigo High School and Dookie Agricultural College. Stanistreet served in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II, where he was wounded. He entered politics in 1955, being elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly for the Liberal and Country Party representative for Bendigo, although he lost re-election in 1958. He passed away on October 30, 1971, in Bendigo.
