John Stodart Kennedy (1912–1993) was an American-born British entomologist known for his work on insect physiology and behavior, particularly regarding mosquitos, locusts, and aphids. He made significant contributions to the understanding of locust behavior in the field and the ecological impacts of insect nutrition and virus transmission. Kennedy was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1965 and received the Linnean Medal in 1984. His academic career included positions at the ARC unit at Cambridge and Imperial College London, where he became a professor of Animal Behaviour.
