John Valentine Waterhouse (1911-1984) was a British naval officer known for his contributions during World War II. Promoted to captain in 1941, he commanded the destroyer HMS Viscount and led Norwegian corvettes against German submarines in the Atlantic. His valorous service earned him the Norwegian War Cross with swords. Post-war, he served in Singapore and led expeditions to the South Atlantic, receiving various honors throughout his career, including being appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire. He retired from the Royal Navy in 1961.
