John van der Giessen is a former American rugby union player, born on May 6, 1982. He played as a lock for the USA Eagles XV team and captained the side during his career. He represented the United States in two Rugby World Cups, in 2007 and 2011. Additionally, van der Giessen played professional rugby in notable leagues, including the English Premiership and the French Top 14. After a successful career, he has since retired from professional rugby.
