He also had a brief tenure in the state Senate from 1959 to 1960. Greer was notable for authoring significant legislation, including a law preventing members of the Ku Klux Klan from wearing masks and establishing a 1% sales tax for public transit in Atlanta. His contributions are honored by the MARTA station at Hartsfield International Airport being named after him.
