John Wahren is a Swedish physician and emeritus professor of clinical physiology at Karolinska Institutet, born on April 28, 1937, in Uppsala. His research has focused on metabolic issues in healthy individuals and diseases, especially diabetes, obesity, and liver diseases. He has published around 400 scientific papers and reviews. Since 2002, he has served as scientific director at Cebix AB, a biotech company developing treatments for complications of diabetes. Wahren has also been a member and chair of the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet for nearly 30 years.
