John Charles Walker is a Canadian filmmaker and cinematographer, born on July 5, 1952, in Montreal, Quebec. He won a Genie Award for his documentary 'Strand: Under the Dark Cloth' in 1990 and received Gemini Awards for 'Leningradskaya: The Hand of Stalin' (1992) and 'Utshimassits: Place of the Boss' (1996). He was also nominated for a Genie Award in 1989 for directing 'A Winter Tan', and his film 'The Fairy Faith' was nominated in 2001. Walker has worked on various other film projects and was a founding member of the Documentary Organization of Canada.
