Whorton had a collegiate career at Kent State University and later played professionally in New Zealand with the Canterbury Rampages. His European career included stints with TSK Würzburg, London Towers, Darussafaka Istanbul, KK Zadar, and FC Porto. He was under contract with TBB Trier in Germany from November 2007 to March 2008 and then played in Argentina for Obera Tennis Club during the 2008/09 season.
