John Haddon Downes DFC (1920-2004) was an English Royal Air Force officer and television producer. He served as a flight lieutenant navigator during World War II and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war, he had a career in theatre and later joined the BBC, where he produced children's television shows including Crackerjack. He played a significant role in the evolution of children's programming and was responsible for discovering new presenters. He was married to singer and actress Barbara Whiting.
