He was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the 1947 draft and played the position of guard, wearing number 5. Standing 6 feet tall, Macknowski played for the Philadelphia 76ers until his retirement in 1951. His contributions to the sport were during a formative time for basketball in the United States, and he is remembered for his role in the early years of the NBA.
