Colonel Jojan Thomas, AC (May 22, 1965 - August 22, 2008), was an Indian Army officer in the Jat Regiment and later served with the 45 National Rifles. He was born in Kuttur, Tiruvalla, Kerala, and resided in Bengaluru. Commissioned from the Officers Training Academy in Chennai in March 1986, he led an operation against terrorists in the Machal sector of Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir on August 22, 2008, where he killed three terrorists but succumbed to injuries. He was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra for his bravery.
