Jon Dagfinnson Bech, born on July 7, 1944, in Oslo, is a Norwegian diplomat and former ambassador. He completed the Foreign Ministry's aspirant course in 1973 and served at embassies in Cape Town, Cairo, and Dar-es-Salaam. He was secretary for Parliament's foreign and constitutional committee from 1988-1990 and served as minister and deputy at the embassy in London from 1991-1994. Bech was chief of the court department in the Justice Ministry from 1997-2000 and was Norway's ambassador to South Africa from 2001-2004. He also worked as a polar and Middle East advisor.
