Jon Riki Karamatsu is a former Democratic politician who served as a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives from 2002 to 2011, representing the 41st district. His tenure saw him as Vice Speaker until a 2007 incident involving a DUI led to his resignation from that role. He later became Chair of the House Judiciary Committee in 2008. In 2010, Karamatsu pursued the office of lieutenant governor but placed sixth in the primary election, foregoing re-election for his house seat.
