Sir Jon Deacon Shortridge is a British civil servant born on April 10, 1947. He served as the Permanent Secretary of the Welsh Office starting in March 1999 and played a vital role in the formation of the National Assembly for Wales in May 1999. He continued as Permanent Secretary when the Welsh Assembly Government became a separate institution in May 2007, leaving in April 2008. In 2009, he was appointed interim Permanent Secretary of the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills.
