She worked at Føroya Banki from 1950 to 1967 and later served as a secretary for the Faroe Islands' KFUK from 1967 to 1997. Henriksen was a member of several boards including the Church Council, the Radio Council, and the School Board. She was also a Tórshavn municipal council member and the first woman elected to the Lagtinget in 1978.
