Ratu Jone Yavala Kubuabola was a prominent Fijian politician who served as the Minister for Finance from 2000 until the military coup in December 2006. He was elected to the House of Representatives for the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua party in 2001 and retained his seat in 2006. He later co-founded the Social Democratic Liberal Party. Before his political career, Kubuabola was the second Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji. He passed away on 16 September 2018 at the age of 72.
