John 'Jonty' Alexander Skinner is a former Hall of Fame South African swimmer and world record-holder, born on February 15, 1954. He had a long career as a swimming coach in the United States, predominantly at the University of Alabama, where he served for over forty years before retiring in 2020. In the mid-1990s, he also coached the US national swimming team and continued to contribute as a Director of Team Performance until 2008.
