Johannes Petrus 'Joop' van den Broek was a Dutch glass designer, glass painter, muralist, and sculptor born in Amsterdam on April 12, 1928. He studied at the Institute of Crafts Education and the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam. His career began at the Amsterdam Municipal Electricity Company, later becoming a glass artist at Tetterode. In 1968, he established Atelier70 with his son Norbert. Passionate about teaching, he was a guest lecturer at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy.
