Joost Baars (born 1975) is a Dutch poet and essayist known for his debut collection 'Binnenplaats', published in 2017, which won the 2018 VSB Poetry Prize and was nominated for several others. His poetry has been translated into multiple languages, including English, Greek, and Arabic. Baars is active in the literary scene, performing at various festivals and collaborating with musicians. As an essayist, he has contributed to literary magazines and authored afterwords for other poets' works. He grew up in Woubrugge and currently resides in Amsterdam, where he also works in bookselling and editing.
