Joost Boel was a Flemish Norbertine and abbot of the Abbey of Tongerlo from 1953 to 1981. Born on February 2, 1919, he joined the Norbertines on September 15, 1938, and became a priest in July 1944. He was an active member of several organizations, including the Kempense Kultuurkring and the National Center for Vocations Pastoral. Boel passed away at the age of 87, with his funeral held on February 11, 2006.
