Jordanka Stojanova is a Bulgarian agronomist and bean and sunflower breeder, born on November 14, 1926. She graduated from the Agronomic Faculty of Sofia University in 1950 and worked at the Dobruja Agricultural Institute until 1984. Stojanova created two major bean varieties and pioneered hybrid sunflower breeding in Bulgaria, discovering cytoplasmic male sterility for hybrid production. Her work resulted in numerous self-pollinated lines and hybrids that gained global recognition. She authored over 150 scientific articles and contributed to four books and monographs.
