Jordi Maria Bou i Simó (1925-2016) was a Catalan monk and organist born in l'Espluga de Francolí. A gifted musician, he joined the Monestir de Poblet in 1943 and became the community's organist in 1947. After studying music in Rome, he returned to lead liturgical music and composed numerous works, including new melodies for mass. Bou was also a passionate poet and musicologist, publishing a study on local history and a book on medieval music. He continued to perform and record until his retirement in 2000, leaving a notable legacy in sacred music.
