Jörg-Peter Findeisen is a German historian born on May 12, 1943, in Grevesmühlen. He specializes in Scandinavian history. He studied history, German studies, and Slavic studies in Rostock. Findeisen became an assistant to Konrad Fritze at the University of Greifswald in 1970 and completed his PhD in 1974 focusing on Swedish trade union history. He worked as a lecturer in Cairo and Stockholm, later became a professor at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, and was a guest professor in Sweden. He is notably recognized for his biography of Charles XII of Sweden.
