Jorge Gibert Tarruell, born on April 30, 1931, in Badalona, is a Cistercian monk who served as prior of the Monastery of Valdediós in Villaviciosa from 1992 to 2009. He joined the order in 1950 at the Monastery of Poblet and helped establish the Monastery of Santa María de Soliu in 1967. Gibert held various responsibilities at the Vatican from the 1970s until 1992 and was tasked with the revival of the Monastery of Valdediós. Before moving to Asturias, he donated his personal library to the town of Villaviciosa.
