Jorge René Matute Matute was a Chilean oil union leader and head of the Empresa Nacional del Petróleo (ENAP). Born on February 1, 1951, in Valparaíso, he became active in the oil workers' union during a politically repressive era in Chile. He served as the national secretary of the oil workers' federation and held various leadership roles in labor rights organizations. Matute also participated in local politics, running for mayor in Concepción in 2004. He is known for the tragic disappearance of his son Jorge Matute Johns in 1999, whose body was found in 2004.
