Jorge Matute Remus (1912–2002) was a prominent Mexican engineer known for his innovative urban planning and infrastructure projects. Notably, in 1950, he successfully moved a 1700-ton telecommunications building in Guadalajara to widen Avenue Juarez. At the young age of 23, he designed a bridge over the Coy river, earning early respect in the engineering community. Matute served as the dean of Universidad de Guadalajara and as municipal president, dedicating his career to enhancing urban planning, water provision, and higher education in the city.
