Jørgen Laursen Meldgaard (March 7, 1927 – March 9, 2007) was a Danish archaeologist and museum curator known for his work on Arctic prehistory, particularly in Greenland. He identified the probable landing site of Nordic explorers in Newfoundland, confirmed by later excavations. Meldgaard worked at the National Museum from 1959 until his retirement in 1997 and became a well-known television figure in Denmark during the early years of the medium. He was involved in several expeditions in the 1960s, including those to Iran and received multiple awards for his contributions, including the Nersornaat medal in silver.
