José Américo, born on December 22, 1953, is a Brazilian journalist and politician affiliated with the Workers' Party (PT). He graduated from the School of Communication and Arts of the University of São Paulo. José served two terms as a state deputy after four terms as a city councilor in São Paulo, where he was president of the Municipal Chamber in 2013 and 2014. He has been an active member of the PT since its founding and held various important roles, including president of PT in São Paulo between 2008 and 2009.
