He is recognized for discovering around 100 plant species native to Honduras. Notably, his contribution includes the identification of the orchid Rhyncholaelia digbyana, which was declared Honduras' national flower on November 26, 1969. The genus Molinadendron was named in his honor by botanist Peter Karl Endress.
