José Antonio Zorrilla Álvarez is a retired Spanish diplomat born in Bilbao. He demonstrated early interest in politics and began his studies at the Madrid School of Diplomacy in 1973. His diplomatic career included serving as a Consul General in Milan and Shanghai, and as ambassador to Georgia. Zorrilla is also an accomplished author, having published several books and directed various films. He has contributed articles on international politics and has given numerous lectures on political science and diplomacy. He retired from diplomatic service in 2016 and is multilingual, speaking five languages fluently.
