José Andrés Benavides Muñoz was a Peruvian civil engineer and politician born on February 26, 1929, in Lima. He served as Minister of Economy and Finance from 1984 to 1985, Minister of Energy and Mines from 1983 to 1984, and Minister of Education from 1981 to 1983 during the second term of President Fernando Belaúnde Terry. Additionally, he was the first mayor of the Jesús María district. He passed away on October 28, 2016, in Lima.
