José Cardoso Cassandra is a politician from São Tomé and Príncipe, born on February 17, 1964, in Príncipe Island. He has been the President of the Regional Government of the Autonomous Region of Príncipe since October 6, 2006. Cassandra leads the Union for Change and Progress in Príncipe (UMPP), a regionalist independent group that supports the coalition Democratic Movement of Forces for Change - Liberal Party - Democratic Convergence Party - Reflection Group (MDFM-PCD). He was re-elected in August 2010 and remained in office as of 2016.
