José Cestero is a Dominican illustrator and painter born on March 19, 1937, in Santo Domingo. He graduated from the National School of Fine Arts in 1954 and studied under notable masters. Cestero later moved to the United States, enhancing his artistic skills and gaining recognition as one of the top illustrators in the country. He returned to the Dominican Republic in 1960, connecting with other artists to form the avant-garde group 'Arte y Liberación' after the Trujillo dictatorship ended. He has received several awards and participated in international exhibitions.
