José de Souza Cândido was a Brazilian politician affiliated with the Workers' Party (PT). He served as a city councilor in Suzano for three terms and was a state deputy for São Paulo at the time of his death. He was the father of Marcelo Cândido, who served as the mayor of Suzano from 2005 to 2012. He passed away at the age of 69 at Sírio-Libanês Hospital following a cardiac arrest during gallbladder surgery.
