José Luis Jordán Peña (1931-2014) was a Spanish telecommunications technician known for confessing to authoring numerous typewritten letters claiming to be messages from the fictitious planet Ummo between 1966 and 1988. These letters, often illustrated, drew interest from various groups despite their inconsistencies. After a stroke in 1988, other individuals continued his work. In 1993, Peña's confession ended the Ummo affair, revealing it as a hoax he orchestrated to explore human belief in the paranormal. He later published works on mysticism and the supernatural.
