José Luis Villar Palasí was a Valencian politician born in Valencia in 1922 and died in Madrid on May 7, 2012. He served as the President of the Superior Council of Scientific Research and was the Minister of Education in Franco's government from April 18, 1968, to June 11, 1973. Villar Palasí left his governmental role after Julio Rodríguez Martínez was appointed by Admiral Luis Carrero Blanco. He was affiliated with the Christian democratic tendency during the Franco regime and had connections to Opus Dei, although he was not a direct member.
