He made significant contributions to major Spanish media outlets, including founding and directing Radio El País. He served as president of the Visual Arts Critics Council and received the National Music Criticism Award in 1981, being the first non-classical music journalist to achieve this distinction. Costa passed away on March 14, 2018, in the same city where he was born.
